1,100 Malibu students head back to school Thursday
Webster and Malibu elementary schools reopen, while Malibu High and Middle School students return amid ongoing campus construction.

About 1,100 kids will go back to school in Malibu's four public schools Thursday.
Webster Elementary in the Civic Center is back in session. Same story with Malibu Elementary on Fernhill Drive on Point Dume.
And above Zuma Beach, the first day of school will see major construction still underway in the heart of the Malibu High School and Middle School campus. Classroom buildings that had stood in the center of the high school campus are gone.
At either end of the construction, the brand new two-year-old high school classroom building and the 10-year-old middle school building house schools that are ranked among the top 200 high schools in California by one ranking agency.
Expect a major traffic jam the next few school days on Morning View, on Fernhill, and in Winter Canyon as kids, employees and parents adjust to the new school year routine.
The first day of school at Our Lady of Malibu is Monday, Aug. 31.
