Malibu-area congressman Brad Sherman has shaken off a flock of Democratic party challengers and emerges to face a Republican again this fall.
Six Democrats had entered the race to unseat Sherman. None of them got 14 percent of the vote — most significantly less.
Sherman is coasting into the two-way runoff election this fall with 38 percent of the vote. Larry Thompson, the only Republican, got 34 percent.
But now that all the other Democrats have been eliminated in the primary, Sherman enters the general election with a 2-to-1 party advantage from the primary.
