Court filings reveal LAX SkyTrain stalled by power rail damage

A September blast damaged the power supply rail, and a lawsuit from the Texas builder has further delayed the long-awaited airport people-mover.

Court documents are revealing what Los Angeles World Airport officials won't say. The track and power rails at the highly anticipated SkyTrain are not running because of blast incidents. The power supply rail was damaged during testing in late September, and it's forced ongoing repairs to the electrical cables.

The Texas-based company that built the train has filed a lawsuit against LA World Airports, and that has further delayed the opening and placed more pressure on the city. An October report also includes the fact that expansion joints on the train's tracks are not moving properly, and damage to the power rail and guide beams during a late ramp-up is also stalling the train's testing progress.
