First new Malibu subdivision in years heads to council

The creation of the first new subdivision in Malibu in years has just been added to the Malibu City Council agenda for Monday. The big vacant lot along PCH west of Trancas will be split into four very long, very narrow residential parcels.
The plan is to put in four home sites right along Trancas Canyon Road between the gas station and Tapia Drive. The four parcels will each have a finger extending all the way along PCH across the lot out to Lunita Drive. This means nothing can be built below the townhouses that were constructed 20 years ago, ever.
The City Council will take a look at this Monday. Under the law, it cannot reject the subdivision map unless it discovers some sort of promise break by the real estate company doing this.
