Another 7.2-foot high tide is expected Wednesday at 11:40 a.m. The big waves from Hurricane Polo have peaked and are ebbing right now. The National Weather Service says Tuesday's high tide came in 1.0 to 1.2 feet above predictions. Wednesday's high tide will be a skosh lower.
Lucky for beachfront residents, Tuesday's high tide came after the big surf had petered out. It was really thundering ashore two nights ago.
We did see the highest waves of the day go just over the top of the beachfront sand berm Tuesday at Zuma at high tide. No major erosion, no additional erosion, was spotted down at the Westward Beach problem area.
At Malibu Lagoon, the berm finally breached, and millions of gallons of bacteria-laden cruddy algae water went out to sea. The high tide did wash some of it back in Tuesday, as happens at high tides for ages.
No additional coastal damage reports came in Tuesday that we know of, but these reports sometimes take days to filter in.
The National Weather Service's beach hazard statement for high tides and possible more beach erosion remains up for one more day.
