Horvath expected to endorse Raman over Bass for LA mayor
The endorsement from Malibu's county supervisor could reshape Westside politics as Horvath prepares to run for a new county chief executive post.

The LA County Supervisor who represents Malibu plans to make a key endorsement Tuesday in the race for LA mayor, and she is not endorsing incumbent Mayor Karen Bass.
Lindsey Horvath's office says she is expected to endorse Nithya Raman's bid for Mayor of Los Angeles Tuesday.
This has significance for Malibu. If Raman is successful in ousting Bass, that would put Horvath into a new liberal Westside power structure, somewhat of a kingmaker.
It would give Horvath an advantage as she prepares to run for a newly created office — the Chief Executive of LA County, in essence an elected mayor for all of Los Angeles County.
That would also open her existing seat as LA County Supervisor for the western one-fifth of the county, one of the most powerful local government offices in the country.
Don't count Bass out yet, though. Almost the entire city council has endorsed her wholeheartedly — everyone except Nithya Raman has endorsed Karen Bass.
