Hurricane Marie unlikely to hit Malibu, but rain possible
Forecasters say chances of a direct hit are VERY LOW, but light rain and big waves are possible Sunday through Tuesday.

The chance of a hurricane hitting Malibu this weekend is VERY LOW.
The National Weather Service is spelling the words VERY LOW in all capital letters.
The computers are generally coming into agreement Tuesday morning — the tropical storm will briefly intensify to hurricane status, but stay on a course to the northwest, far out to sea.
The chances of Marie veering off towards Southern California remain VERY LOW.
But there still may be some noticeable impacts for the area from this storm. We may get some light rain Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. That depends on which track the hurricane takes.
There is a 50 to 60 percent chance of widespread light rainfall Sunday through Tuesday. Total rain: between a tenth and five tenths of an inch. But there is a 10 to 15 percent chance of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
The tropical disturbance could also bring fire weather — a 10 to 15 percent chance of moderate to strong easterly winds.
The biggest worry: the hurricane could send us big waves, and possible additional beach washouts.
