Malibu Chili Cookoff opens Thursday in Civic Center

Admission tickets must be purchased online in advance, with proceeds benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu.

The Malibu Chili Cookoff is back starting Thursday at 4 p.m.

And it bears repeating that admission tickets are online only and must be purchased in advance. Tickets for the carnival rides are sold separately.

Expect huge crowds in the Civic Center area this weekend.

The Malibu Farmers Market is taking the Labor Day Sunday off, as usual.

Money from the carnival goes to help fund the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu and its vast array of social services that benefit not only children but also Malibu fire survivors.

It funds mental health services, social support, and social-emotional learning for students, families, and the broader community.

And accessible, safe afterschool spaces for kids from prekindergarten to 12th grade. Youth are provided enrichment programs, mentorship, connection and social-emotional learning on a sliding tuition scale.
