Malibu hires Jesse Mays as assistant city manager Play

A new assistant city manager has been hired by the city. Jesse Mays comes from a similar job in Culver City. His resume says Mays managed Culver City's private partnership with a cable company to connect every home and address to fiber internet at no cost. He also worked for a city council member representing La Jolla down in San Diego.

There have been more than a dozen assistant city managers working in Malibu City Hall over the last six years, but this time it's the new city manager, Joe Irvin, who's building his team. Irvin put out a statement with all the key buzzwords — community priorities, community resiliency, customer service, government relations, all that stuff. He also says Mays will work on the future of the Malibu community lands — planning for some sort of combination of parks and a recreation center on Point Dume and/or at the Civic Center.
