Malibu may expand parking enforcement to library lot
A proposed ordinance would let city parking officers ticket at the county library lot, where RVs and late-night cooking have raised safety concerns.

The Malibu City Council will consider a change in its parking regulations for the county parking lot at the library next week.
The Malibu Library parking lot sees an occasional proliferation of RVs and abandoned vehicles. In addition, individuals have been observed cooking from their vehicles late at night, increasing fire risks in the area.
Because overnight parking enforcement is not being carried out in the lot and Sheriff's Department resources are limited during those hours, city staff face added challenges in addressing these public safety concerns.
A proposed ordinance would authorize the city's Parking Enforcement Team and VOPs to write parking tickets at publicly owned off-street parking facilities. Signs have already gone up at the Malibu Library.
The ordinance goes up to the City Council Monday.
