The Malibu Moves half marathon and other footraces will be run on PCH this weekend, with lane closures Saturday and Sunday morning.
This year's races are complicated by a traffic mess at the Zuma Beach parking lot entrance, where Zuma Creek is full and no cars can cross from Westward Beach into the Zuma Beach parking lot. The underpass has been closed for months and — it appears — permanently.
The half marathon, 10K run and 5K run will use PCH along Zuma Beach and as far west as Nicholas Canyon, near Leo Carrillo Beach. The half marathon starts at 8 a.m. Sunday, with the 5K and 10K races starting at 8:30 a.m.
A beer garden will be open on the beach from 9 a.m. to noon.
Driveways and both entrances to Broad Beach Road will be closed at times Sunday between 8 and 10 a.m., although deputies will allow limited cross traffic.
PCH will remain open, but the eastbound lane and shoulder closest to the ocean will be coned off.
The marathon is a profit-making venture that donates a portion of its receipts to the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu. It is one of two such charity runs that the city council has selected in an open bidding process.
