New state agency MCERP takes charge of Malibu Creek

Get ready to learn about a new government agency with control here in Malibu. We've told you about the threat of flooding down at Malibu Creek upstream from the lagoon in the heart of the city.
The creek is about to overflow its banks due to all the rocks and gravel that are clogging the channel. A state of emergency is going to be declared by the City Council at their next meeting on this.
The new state agency that's in charge is called MCERP — the Malibu Creek Ecological Restoration Project. They're the multi-agency government group that's going to restore Malibu Canyon.
MCERP is in charge of removing Rindge Dam starting in a couple of years, getting hundreds of thousands of tons of sand and rock out of the canyon and down to the beach.
MCERP is also in charge of the creek bed right through Malibu, which as noted is choked with debris and about to overflow, endangering houses and businesses in the Civic Center area.
On Oct. 15, MCERP is going to unveil its latest design and engineering updates for the removal of the dam. MCERP wants to teach us the multiple project benefits of removing Rindge Dam.
But people in Malibu want to know how MCERP will act now to prevent Malibu Creek from flooding the Civic Center and the Serra Retreat houses and businesses.
There's a workshop Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District room, on Las Virgenes Road north of Mulholland.
We're going to try to get some concrete information about what they plan to do about the creek danger before that meeting.

I'm fairly certain I will be able to find the location and the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District Meeting room but an actual address would be helpful to those who have never been there before.
