Governor Gavin Newsom Monday signed three new bills into law regarding fire insurance. Companies will now pay double the fine for violating fair claims practices rules during emergencies like fires.
Insurance companies will now have to explain why they don't renew a policy and give homeowners 90 days notice of cancellations.
But the governor vetoed bills requiring insurers to share damage estimates and to pay claims within 30 days.
