Obituary: Col. Clarence 'Dutch' Rubenacker, Kanan Dume Road designer
The Malibu Park resident, who died July 6, rose from LA County road worker to civil engineer overseeing county road projects.

Funeral mass will be said one week from Sunday for Colonel Clarence "Dutch" Rubenacker, a Malibu pioneer who died July 6 in his house on Horizon Drive, high above Malibu Park.
Rubenacker started as a road worker for L.A. County and went to night school, eventually becoming a civil engineer in charge of road projects all over the county. As such, he was a principal designer in building Kanan Dume Road.
He was married to his high school sweetheart, Beverly, for 69 years until she passed away. They had three children — Deborah, John and Rebecca.
Funeral mass will be said for Dutch Rubenacker at 10 a.m. July 30 at Our Lady of Malibu Church.
