Planning Commission to weigh new Snack Shack at Bluffs Park
The 1,500-square-foot replacement would retire the rusty storage containers now serving as a snack bar at Malibu Bluffs Park.

The Malibu Planning Commission meets Monday night to consider blueprints for the proposed Snack Shack replacement project at Malibu Bluffs Park. Proponents want the city to tear out the storage containers that serve as a snack bar, littering storage equipment and portable bathrooms.
In its place would go a low-height linear structure, 1,500 square feet, about the size of a small house, to house the Snack Shack. It would be low — 12 feet in elevation — to preserve views of the ocean from Pacific Coast Highway. A second building would house restrooms and a storage area, and there'd be some new wheelchair-friendly ramps.
All this needs a Planning Commission permit for the concept of a Snack Shack in a park, and a demolition permit for the existing rusty trailers. The concept has already been approved by the City Council. It goes before the Planning Commission Monday at 6:30 p.m.
