Ridley sea turtles nest on Orange County beaches; one spotted off Point Dume Play

Finally this morning, unbelievable video on the L.A. TV stations of a Ridley sea turtle laying eggs on the beach at Seal Beach in Orange County, and also at Huntington Beach. Actually there were two nests of eggs laid down there, maybe by the same mama turtle, maybe two mama turtles. Lifeguards quickly secured both clutches of eggs, and wildlife officials fenced off the two tiny sections of beach.

Turtles have been spotted off of Point Dume in the past week up here in Malibu, according to surfers who have spoken about that with Mo in the Morning. Watch out for Ridley sea turtles on Malibu beaches. It appears that the sea turtles are taking advantage of warm water up the coast this far up from their normal habitat down in Baja.
