School board pays final $32,000 bill on Malibu High classroom building Play

The Santa Monica-Malibu school board Wednesday paid off the final bill for the new high school building, which opened two years ago.

The school board approved paying an additional $32,000 to fix the electronic gates in the driveway, which were landing too hard.

Add in the $32,000 for the gate shock absorbers, and the final bottom line for the classroom building is $102,062,860.

That was for phase one — the new classroom building on the hill, replacing the old Juan Cabrillo elementary campus.

Meanwhile next door, construction continues on phases 2, 3 and 4 — the center of the campus.
