There was a huge vote of support Tuesday night countywide for the L.A. County sheriff.
Incumbent Sheriff Robert Luna absolutely clobbered his longtime adversary, former Sheriff Alex Villanueva. Luna won re-election by more than a 2-to-1 margin.
Villanueva was disgraced while in office, picking fights with the board of supervisors, various city councils and just about anyone. Luna's term has been marked with cooperation with other government leaders, most particularly the board of supervisors.
Luna won 69 percent of the vote to Villanueva's 31 percent.
He serves as the police chief for the city of Malibu, which like 42 other small cities in L.A. County hires the sheriff to function as city police.
