The power may go out, but the Santa Monica-Malibu School District says it is prepared. Backup generators are on standby and ready for use at the four public school campuses: Malibu Elementary, Malibu Middle, Malibu High, and Webster Elementary.
Webster is currently not in the affected blackout warning area, but is also prepared.
The school district is urging families to check the Aeries computer software and verify their contact information is correct, and to make sure Parent Square notifications are enabled. This will allow the district to send parents messages about school closures, bus route changes, and similar information.
