U S Supreme Court clears way for mail ballots in Malibu Play

Ballots in Malibu can be safely mailed out next month by L.A. County, it appears. The United States Supreme Court on Monday ruled that the U.S. Postal Service cannot hold up ballot delivery to voters or from voters going back to the vote centers.

More than three quarters of the registered voters in Malibu use the U.S. mail to receive and send their votes.

California Senator Alex Padilla on Monday said the Trump post office plan — the plan to let the post office check for citizenship — was clearly illegal.

"First of all, the violation of privacy of state privacy laws as they're going about this. Number two, the data to begin with, the department has said, is unreliable. And so when they start a law enforcement record because they're going to investigate somebody every 12 minutes, United States citizens perfectly eligible to vote, you know they've abided by the law, but now they have this flag. And let's say you're coming in from a trip overseas: secondary inspection at the airport because your name has been flagged in the database. Or maybe HSI or FBI is going to come knock on your door because all of a sudden you have a criminal ticket associated with your name." — U.S. Senator Alex Padilla.

The governor on Monday said California stood up for democracy and won. Ballots will start arriving in Malibu mailboxes within two weeks.

Speaking of Gavin Newsom, he announced Monday that he will not run for president if Kamala Harris runs again. Harris lives on Point Dume.
