Agoura Hills is banning the use of e-bikes in its city parks. Signs are going up warning that people riding the bikes off pavement are breaking the law.
This comes after the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff's office has cracked down on disruptive and reckless e-bike and e-motorcycle riders over the hill.
Two months ago, there was a major bike enforcement operation in Calabasas, Agoura Hills and Westlake Village. More than two dozen tickets were issued, seven bikes were seized, and one kid was arrested for fleeing from a traffic stop.
Emergency room visits related to e-bike incidents have surged, resulting in a significant increase in head trauma, fractures and internal injuries, authorities said.
Agoura Hills has further restricted the use of e-bikes. They have made it clear that the bikes are not welcome off the pavement in city parks.
