Ventura County prosecutors say Abba Avrohom Bryski intentionally ran over Nicholas Lang as he painted parking stripes at a new Camarillo Costco.

The 28-year-old man who was run over and killed by an Agoura Hills religious leader was painting parking line stripes at the new Costco in Camarillo when he was murdered, the Ventura County District Attorney said Monday.

“The victim was at work, painting lines on a new parking lot, when his life was tragically cut short by an individual whose alleged actions demonstrated a shocking disregard for human life,” said District Attorney Erik Nasarenko in a written statement.

Nicholas Lang, 28, of the Sacramento area, was run over and killed Oct. 20 by a car allegedly driven by Abba Avrohom Bryski, 35. Bryski listed his occupation as rabbi and teacher at Chabad of Conejo Valley, a religious institution on US 101 at Reyes Adobes.

Bryski has been charged with murder and using a deadly weapon to commit the murder. He is also charged with resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer.

The charges allege that, at 8:30 p.m. that Tuesday night, Bryski drove his Infiniti Q60 coupe at Lang and intentionally hit him as Lang was in the process of painting stripes on the pavement of the Costco parking lot, near the 101 Freeway at Las Posas Road.

“This is a devastating and senseless loss of life,” Nasarenko said. “We are committed to holding the defendant accountable and pursuing justice for the victim and his loved ones.”

Bryski appeared in court Monday and continued his arraignment to Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 13 of the Ventura County Superior Court.

He remains in custody without bail.
