A dead body has been found on a trail at the foot of Zuma Canyon, between Bonsall and Kanan.
The find was reported by the Los Angeles Police Department. Friday morning, LAPD called the sheriff's office to meet them at the trail network below Zuma Canyon.
That's very unusual — the LAPD involvement out in Malibu. A half dozen LAPD squad cars were observed out here. That's police a long way from L.A. city limits.
By midmorning, LAPD had moved out and the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff's station had moved in. Deputies were looking for a car that the person may have driven out here.
Jurisdiction on the case has been transferred to the sheriff's homicide bureau, which refuses to talk to reporters. As far as we know, there is no suspect being sought.
But the L.A. sheriff's office policy is not to comment on anything — including if there is any danger.
