Brush fire burns 25 acres behind Getty Museum Play

Any hope that the Malibu fire danger has been eliminated by that big weekend rainstorm was dashed Wednesday afternoon. A brush fire broke out near the Getty Museum in Sepulveda Pass. 25 acres burned right behind the landmark museum's lower tram station and parking garage. A handful of Bel Air residents were evacuated.

Amazingly, traffic on the 405 did not snarl — people just drove past. Apparently Angelenos are getting used to fires in Sepulveda Pass. The winds were not strong and were blowing the smoke away from Malibu, off toward Burbank.

Major power lines were endangered by the flames. Those power lines are operated by the L.A. Department of Water and Power. They are not used to deliver electricity to Malibu — we're hooked up to the SCE delivery system.
