Brush fire burns 5.6 acres near Sandstone Peak
Ventura County crews had the fire 65 percent contained by Friday evening after it burned up a canyon near a trailhead parking lot.

About 5.6 acres of brush burned at a trailhead parking lot near Sandstone Peak, in the mountains west of Malibu, on Friday.
The fire burned up the side of a canyon.
By 8 p.m., the fire had been 65 percent contained by ground crews from the Ventura County Fire Department.
Several fire trucks from Malibu were dispatched to assist, at about 5:15 p.m.
