Camp counselor sues MRCA over fatal falling-tree incident
Haley Weiser says she suffered PTSD and physical injury when a massive oak branch fell on a summer camp, killing a child beside her.

A woman who was standing inches away from a little boy when the child was crushed to death by a massive falling oak tree is suing the MRCA for making her see it.
Haley Weiser maintains she's suffered post-traumatic stress disorder, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, and actual physical injury from being grazed by the tree as it fell.
Lamar McGlothurn was crushed to death at the summer camp last year — a summer camp that was rented from the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, the MRCA. In July 2025, the MRCA allowed a summer camp to continue operating under a tree even after one part of a nearby massive oak tree gave way and fell to earth. The lawsuit claims that the multi-ton branch collapse was a preventable tree failure, not a spontaneous or unforeseeable act of nature.
The child's family has already been paid 14 million dollars by the MRCA and other defendants.
