The man who was run over and killed at the new Costco in Camarillo had been at work painting lines on the parking lot when he was murdered, according to the Ventura County District Attorney.
Murder charges were filed Monday against the alleged driver, Abba Avrohom Bryski, an Agoura Hills resident. He remains in jail, held without bond and charged with murder, using a deadly weapon to commit the murder, and with resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer or emergency medical worker.
The victim, 28-year-old Nicolas Lang, had lived near Sacramento.
The district attorney in Ventura says "the victim was at work, painting lines on a new parking lot, when his life was tragically cut short (in a) a shocking disregard for human life."
The charges allege that at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, Lang was in the process of painting stripes on the pavement of the Costco parking lot, near the 101 Freeway at Las Posas Road. Bryski drove his Infiniti Q60 coupe toward Lang and intentionally hit him.
Video from the scene showed yellow paint splattered on the ground and on Bryski's white sedan. Bryski identified himself to sheriff's deputies as a rabbi, and he remains in custody without bail.
