Council to weigh Clean Power Alliance grant for City Hall solar
The offer would cover a full solar-plus-battery system at Malibu City Hall with no upfront or operating costs to the city.

The Malibu City Council will consider an offer Monday from the local power supply company to pay for solar panels and batteries at Malibu City Hall. We're not talking about Southern California Edison — we're talking about CPA, the Clean Power Alliance, which actually supplies the electricity that Edison delivers.
Malibu City Council member Skylar Peak four years ago tried hard to get Malibu City Hall converted to solar and batteries. Solar is important, but the battery storage is vital. With all of the power outages that we get, keeping City Hall powered up is critical, and the existing generators aren't big enough.
The Clean Power Alliance is offering to provide Malibu with a grant that will pay for ongoing funding for an entire solar photovoltaic battery energy storage system — no upfront or operating costs for the city. The proposal goes before the City Council Monday night.
