The vote total we got overnight has not been updated much. There was one update at around 3 a.m., but other than that, no updates after 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The latest intelligence from the county elections people is the next update should be at around 4 p.m. Wednesday. About 40% or more of the ballots still need to be counted. Add to that the late mail-in ballots, day-of voting registrations, and votes where the signatures don't match.
L.A. County reports it has so far counted 2.1 million ballots. The number of eligible voters, though, is 5.8 million.
Earlier we reported there was no update after 8:20 p.m. Tuesday; that was not correct. There was one update at 3 a.m. Wednesday. We apologize for that.
