As of 7:30 a.m. Friday, Malibu remained under a "conserve water" order, as repairs continued all night on the single big pipe that brings water into this region.
Construction crews are still blocking two of the three lanes heading toward Santa Monica. teh mornign surprise ewas that only one was open heading into Malibu, where there are normally three.
Malibu residents are still being asked to conserve water in any way possible, particularly by turning off outdoor sprinklers.
Waterworks District 29 engineers "topped off" the Malibu and Topanga local storage tanks late in the day, in the minutes before they shut down the only water supply pipe due to a leak in the Palisades fire area.
Witnesses tell us the big pipe actually sprang a leak Thursday morning. By 9 a.m., a river of water was flooding out onto PCH past Sunset, before Temescal Canyon.
KBUU has a reporter who will be at the water pipe Friday morning to give us an update. Keep an ear to the radio this morning for updates — click the listen now button on the malibu.fm link.
