DWP pitches Palisades undergrounding, keeps Malibu yard plan alive
L.A.'s Department of Water and Power met with Alphabet Streets homeowners but hasn't dropped its push for an equipment yard in Malibu.

Electrical service was restored to Pacific Palisades after the fire as quickly as possible. The L.A. Department of Water and Power did this by putting in overhead power poles. Now they're starting to convert those power poles to underground power lines. That's why the DWP wanted to put an equipment storage yard way out here in Malibu — and by the way, they haven't walked away from those plans yet, even though the city has turned it down.
The DWP a week ago met with Pacific Palisades homeowners to present their undergrounding plans for the Alphabet Streets neighborhoods, with workshops for the people who live in Los Angeles. But there's no word yet if the city of Los Angeles will abandon its efforts to put their equipment storage yard way out here in Malibu. The city of Los Angeles claims that they have immunity from Malibu's zoning codes.
