Man dies after Coast Guard intercepts smuggling boat near Channel Islands
A Coast Guard ship stopped a boat carrying 21 people near San Clemente Island; one man aboard was found unconscious and later died.

A boat was intercepted last week in the Channel Islands with 21 people attempting to sneak into the United States.
A man on board was found to be unconscious when a Coast Guard ship out of Long Beach intercepted the boat near San Clemente Island, about 90 miles south of Malibu.
Coast Guardsmen attempted CPR on the man and flew him to a hospital via helicopter. He died.
The other 20 people were turned over to the Border Patrol.
