Marni Kamins elected Planning Commission chair without debate
The commission unanimously selected Kamins as chair, again passing over John Mazza — but without the political fights of past years.

The Malibu Planning Commission Monday night put aside political bickering and did not rotate John Mazza into the chairperson seat. His political ally Marni Kamins was instead unanimously selected, with little discussion, as chairperson of the powerful commission.
In past elections there were nasty back-and-forths as Mazza was rejected. The three-member majority will not let Mazza sit as the chair: they've publicly said in the past that he's a nice guy, but argumentative and repetitive.
Monday night, no debate, no politics.
Mazza nominated his colleague Marni Kamins. She was the only candidate, and it was a unanimous vote.
