Sandy Fire 75% contained after burning 2,200 acres
About 150 firefighters worked through the holiday on the Simi Valley-area blaze, while a Santa Rosa Island fire is 87% contained.

About 150 firefighters worked over the holiday to put out the Sandy Fire, 25 miles north of Malibu. Containment of the Sandy Fire reached 75% Monday. It's burned nearly 2,200 acres.
The fire burned on the southern edge of Simi Valley for a week.
On Santa Rosa Island, 70 miles upwind of Malibu, that fire is 87% contained. 18,400 acres have burned over 10 days. 100 firefighters are working on that one.
