Santa Monica Turns On Cameras to Ticket Bike Lane Blockers
Automatic cameras will mail out $93 tickets to vehicles blocking bike lanes and $293 tickets for bus stop violations.

Automatic cameras that catch vehicles blocking bicycle lanes and mail out $93 tickets are now online in Santa Monica.
When parking enforcement vehicles spot a delivery vehicle pulled over blocking the bright green bike lanes, zip — off goes an email to a cop. The email contains a photo, a location and a time of day: all the evidence needed for the officer to mail out a ticket. Flat rate, $93 per violation.
Metro buses in Santa Monica can do the same thing for vehicles that are pulled over in bus stops. A bus stop violation costs $293.
