State Parks won't act to save Adamson House lawn from erosion

The agency is watching wind and water erode the lawn between Malibu Lagoon and the historic mansion, but taking no action.

State Parks says they are not going to take any steps to prevent the additional loss of lawn in front of the Adamson House lost to wind currents in the Malibu Lagoon. California State Parks says they are watching the erosion claiming the lawn between the lagoon and the historic Adamson mansion, the crown jewel of Malibu. They're watching, but they're not taking any action.

The state says it has investigated roof leaks on the Adamson House and they will apply sealant where they found problems. And they've brought in sandbags and tarps. Just in case, collections of historical documents and artifacts have been gathered for rapid evacuation in case water threatens the structure.

Sunday, incidentally, parties unknown dug a channel to try to drain the Malibu Lagoon at its westernmost point. Once again, apparently this is part of the populist sand engineers who are endlessly trying to flush sand out at the western end of the lagoon at First Point instead of letting the wind carry the water and sand out down at Third Point. At 10 a.m. Sunday it was high tide. Ocean water was observed traveling into the guerrilla channel, not out — water and sand flowing the wrong direction.
