Teens spot, extinguish small brush fire on Kanan Dume Road Play

A small fire caused by a vape electronic cigarette, apparently tossed from a car, burned a bush on Kanan Dume Road on Saturday night.

The fire was spotted by some teenagers, who called 911 and then put it out. They stayed at the scene until they flagged down responding firefighters, the firefighters said.

The fire was well off the pavement, near the second View Point pullout about a quarter mile north of the Malibu city limit.

Its official size was a quarter of an acre, but it appeared to be smaller than that.
