City holds listening session tonight on three future park sites Play

There is another public meeting tonight at 5 on the city's preliminary plans for building parks on three vacant pieces of land the public owns.

The City of Malibu is trying to get feedback on the preliminary design concepts for the three pieces of land, which were purchased more than a decade ago for $42 million. The promise was for parks, but since then the city has failed to get its act together on what to do with the land.

We are talking about the Chili Cook Off site — now called the Ioki Property — the Triangle Lot Property at the corner of Webb Way and PCH, and the vacant land on Heathercliff.

As part of the Malibu Community Lands Project, tonight at 5, two city council members and 10 commission members will hold a listening session.

The city says people can also visit the Community Lands website for an opportunity to give general feedback on the preliminary design concepts. Take the survey, review each concept, and share your level of support, concerns and suggestions. The survey closes on August 31, 2026.
