LA28 triathlon course skips Malibu, lands in Venice Play

LA 28 has released the racecourse paths for the Summer Olympic triathlon portion for the Summer Olympic Games in LA in 2028. Malibu and Santa Monica have dodged that bullet. Venice is going to get it instead.

The triathlons will start in the sand at the end of Venice Boulevard: two laps through the water around a buoy in the ocean, and then hop on bikes. The bike racecourse will go down the beach with eight laps, five kilometers each. The bike racecourse goes from Venice down the bike path into Marina del Rey, back up Ocean Avenue and Grand Avenue through the heart of Old Venice, then back to Ocean Front Walk at Venice Boulevard. Then comes four laps on a foot racecourse that loops down Ocean Front Walk, east on Washington, and then north up Dell Avenue through the Venice canals. The big finish line will be at the western end of Venice Boulevard.

All this will start with the women's Olympic races for the triathlon July 15, 2028. The men race the next day, July 16. The mixed relay will be July 20. The Paralympic triathlon is scheduled for Aug. 18 and 19 in 2028.
