Rock-hauling trucks to cross Malibu day and night for PCH repair Play

Caltrans says its emergency effort to shore up Pacific Coast Highway at the eastern end of Malibu could mean day and nighttime truck trips across the city. Trucks are going to be coming in from a quarry in the Ventura County area, and those quarries are reporting truck traffic will be from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., bringing in rocks to Malibu.

PCH is being protected down at Tuna Beach, between Big Rock and Topanga Beach. The rocks that are being trucked in are from a quarry in Camarillo. They're not going to go to Deer Creek as we had assumed; those rocks are coming from Ojai. And those rocks up at Deer Creek will only be hauled in during the daytime.

The city of Camarillo has warned that large numbers of rock-hauling trucks will go out on the Pacific Coast Highway daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. But there's been no formal announcement from Caltrans. If this prediction holds true, it looks like the rocks will be trucked across the length of the city from 6 a.m. until late at night until the middle of December.
