Power went out for 152 customers in the Malibu West and Trancas Canyon areas Saturday morning.
Southern California Edison says its equipment failed for some reason at 3:46 a.m. Its Thousand Oaks dispatch yard sent crews out, and they said they expected to have power back on by 8:30 or 9 a.m.
This was not an intentional wind-related outage like last week, and it was not a maintenance replacement job like last week.

The extreme alternative to the UTILITY provider isolating a neighborhood "fault" from the entire "circuit" or region is a major consumer's automatic equipment isolating from the grid to protect the consumer's electrical equipment. This Catch-22 will continue IF the electric utilities do not install such automatic isolation circuit breakers at the micro-level WITHIN the UTILITY's network -- and maintained by the UTILITY at rate-payers' expense to protect the entire network from collapse.
